Mud + Merlot: Ceramic Garden Markers

Are you an eager gardener wanting to meet others with the same hobby? Spend an evening at Laumeier Sculpture Park to socialize with others and create a set of ceramic garden markers for your herbs and veggies! Learn how to use fun textures in clay and vibrant colors that will brighten up your garden beds. Bring your favorite adult beverage; light snacks provided.

Mindfulness +Mud

Did you know that the art of ceramics improves mood, promotes problem solving and awakens creativity? This 4-week class encourages you to release your inner child through playful experimentation and mindfully working with clay. Explore form, texture and color through the processes of wheel throwing, hand building, sculpting and glazing—in a critique free environment. Wear art-friendly clothes, bring a towel and plan on getting messy!

Stinging Nettle + Its Uses

Join Amanda Jokerst, founder and owner of Forest & Meadow and certified Clinical Herbalist, for a morning discussion about foraging stinging nettle and how to use it in the kitchen for its medicinal properties. Learn several methods for safely harvesting this prickly plant and learn about different recipes for delicious teas, tinctures and side dishes! All levels of herbalists and foragers are welcome, especially beginners!

African School
No. 4 Tour

Participants will visit Faust Park, site of the recently renovated 1894 “African School No. 4,” one of the oldest surviving one-room schoolhouse for African Americans in Missouri. Tim Emmons from Faust Park will lead the tour and Laumeier Curator, Dana Turkovic and Karen Mullen, Curator of Education will also be available to facilitate conversation and connections to Hugh Hayden’s exhibition American Vernacular at Laumeier Sculpture Park.
